OPPD / NPPD

 Power drive students design, build, document, and operate a new electric car each year. Starting from scratch, students join together as a team in order to come up with the “ultimate” electric car for the state’s competition. The purpose of the competition is to see how far you can drive in one hour on two small batteries. In the spring students drive their new car in several car rallies and are evaluated for their workmanship at the State Championship in May. Quality documentation counts for 30% of the project total.  Students learn many life skills while constructing an electric vehicle and participating in the exciting rally events.
